Punch Art 2 ~ Bear

Here is the second in my series of punch art embellishments, this is based on ‘Bertie Bear’  by Pat Carr (an Australian SU designer)

As you can see the Owl punch has come into play again for the body and the little fur tuft on the top of his head.  The arms and feet use the ‘wing’ from the Bird Builder Punch.

All the pieces are cut from Crumb Cake and were sponged in ‘Soft Suede’ ink.  The nose and tuft were cut from Soft Suede card stock.  I used the Chocolate Chip stampin marker to put on his features and cute little toes.

This turned out to be a very versatile embellishment as I used the him for a recent scrap book layout:

Punch Art – Book worm

I love to make my own embellishments for  my scrap book pages.  This often involves pulling out all of my paper punches and scraps of card stock and to footle about until I get something that looks good and is repeatable in my scrap camps.

At least one of my pages contains a punch art embellishment.  To help my ‘scrappers’ create their own little gem I create an exploded version for them to follow.  I thought I would share some of these in a series of posts.

This little guy featured in the ‘school days’ scrap pages in the October scrap camp.  He is made from a series of Stampin’ Up’s circle punches as well as the eyes from the Owl Punch

Stampin’ Up’s ~ Gorgeous Grunge & Oh Hello

Gorgeous Grunge…… curious choice of words… I have to admit that I did not really see the stamp set when the new catalog was released in June,  I am more into flowers and doilies than splodges and skid marks!!!  However we were given this set as part of our Convention 2013 goodies and I bought it home and put it in my stamp cupboard.

gorgeous grunge

In late July I was designing some scrap book layouts for my August Scrap camp ~ the theme was ‘fun in the sun’ – I was looking for something that would give me a ‘sand-type’  texture to add dimension to my crumb cake cardstock ‘beach’  I browsed thru my stamp sets and there was ‘Gorgeous Grunge’ sitting there waiting patiently for me…… the little scattered dot pattern stamp gave me a perfect effect.

In August I was working on  my September Scrap Camp designs, this time a travel theme, again looking for texture to add interest to the background of my pages…. there was Gorgeous Grunge again….. using the kinda ‘tyre skid’ effect at the bottom of my pages.  I was really beginning to warm to this stamp set!

I also used the small ‘splodge’ on the Thanksgiving Banner featured in an earlier post.

November, December and January bring a lot of birthdays for the fellas in my family…… so out came the Gorgeous Grunge once again!

………. and again for a couple of ‘thank you’ cards same layout at the guy cards but using more ‘girly’ colors and the pretty flower from the ‘Oh Hello’ stamp set (which I got as part of my materials at Leadership training way back in January

oh hello

So I guess the moral is to never judge a stamp set by it cover ~ this little DVD case was full of little gems! 🙂

Another day of Stampin’

puppy treats

Today is my birthday, I will not share which one it is but suffice to say I have had a few of them and this one is not a milestone year!

I spent most of the day preparing for a craft sale this coming Saturday ~ the Bobcats Bazaar at Celina High School in Texas.  I really enjoyed making a bunch of these cute snack packs for puppies and NOEL, home decor banner.

Stampin’ Up ~ Joyful Christmas

inspiration card

I went to an inspiration night last week and I have to say I was well and truly  inspired by the projects we made.

This one used the Joyful Christmas Stamp Set.  Heat embossed in silver on Shimmery White cardstock.  We then spritzed it with water before using an Aqua Painter with Coastal Cabana and Island Indigo ink to flood in the color.  After it was dry (which only took a few minutes) it was out with the scissors to ‘fussy-cut” the flower before adhering to Coastal Cabana cardstock with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  The center was finished off with a bunch of rhinestones to add some extra bling!
