I seemed to have been focusing on certain colors at the moment, my hand seems to be drawn to Sahara Sand as well as Rose Red.
This card was inspired by a video by Dawn Griffin and Shelli Gardner and uses a heat embossed resist technique. My ladies got to make this one at a recent Stamp Camp.
Card Base: 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 Rose Red, scored @ 4 1/4.
Layer: 5 1/4 x 4 Whisper White (cut 2 ~ one for the inside)
The ink colors are Rose Red and Pink Pirouette and all the images have been heat embossed – including the butterfly and sentiment!!!
The left-hand strip was stamped heat embossed in silver first. Then the ‘ferny leaves’ were stamped and heat embossed using the clear embossing powder. Finally the sentiment was stamped in Rose Red ink then heat embossed with clear embossing powder.
Once this had cooled a little a sponge was used to gently apply the Pink Pirouette ink. Using a circular motion and just adding a little at a time, you can always add a little more but not so easy to take it off!!! The color is more intense around the image and fades toward the edges. Once I was happy with the color I buffed up the leaves with a paper tissue to remove any excess ink (it makes the white really pop!)
The Butterfly was stamped on a scrap of Whisper White card using Rose Red ink, then heat embossed in clear embossing powder before cutting out with the Butterflies Thinlets Dies. A little frill of Tea Time Paper doily and rhinestone was attached to the butterfly with a glue dot then attached to the card with a stampin’ dimensional.
I was pleased with the result and it made for a successful class!
