This is a card for the fellas in our lives. I usually struggle to make ‘guy-type’ cards and I don’t think I am alone in that. But I set myself a challenge a couple of months ago to do a class featuring 4 different designs of cards for our men-folk. Quite unconsciously this ended up as red, white and blue and since we shall be celebrating July 4th later this week I thought it was a perfect time to share.
The Stamp Set is Stampin’ Up!’s Open Sea – a perfect set for guys.
Base card: 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 Night of Navy, scored at 4 1/4
Layer 1 : 5 1/4 x 4 Real Red
Layer 2 : 5 x 3 3/4 Whisper White
Ink Colors: Real Red, Night of Navy, Sahara Sand
I think the actual stamping is pretty straight forward, the compass image was stamped on a scrap of Whisper White, then punched with 1 1/4″ Circle punch then layered onto Night of Navy card punched with 1 3/8 Circle punch. The middle finished off with a real red candy dot and a strip of Chevron Ribbon which sort of finished off the nautical theme.
Because the base card is a dark color I added an insert in Whisper White, this measures 5 1/4 x 4, and you can just see peeping out from the side I stamped the anchor image from the Open Sea set in Real Red (and again on the envelope)
I hope you enjoyed this one, I always welcome comments and if you have suggestions for projects, folds, techniques etc – please let me know.
Happy July 4th everyone!
