Today I am thrilled to be taking part in the Ink & Share blog hop again. You will have arrived from Rebecca-Jo Unwin’s post. This month’s theme is Summer ~ I really thought about this and recall family holiday’s when we were children in North Devon in the UK, there was a particular beach, Putsborough Sands, that had wonderful sand and you could walk into the sea for ages before it got too deep.
It bought back such happy memories that I decided that my summer card would feature a beach with a comfy chair where you can take time to just watch the world go by.
I chose to do a little water-coloring, this month and used the Seasonal Layers Thinlet Dies, some punches and the Best Birds Stamp Set for the greeting. You will also see the card front is divided into 3 sections.
Card base: 11 x 4 1/4 Balmy Blue Card ~ scored @ 4 1/4 I then trimmed 3″ off one side, cut that piece in half giving me 4 1/4 x 1 1/2
Layer 1: 5 1/4 x 4 Crumb Cake Card
Layer 2: 5 x 3 3/4 Watercolor Paper
Ink Colors: Balmy Blue and So Saffron.
Balmy Blue is one of the new core colors introduced in the 2018 – 2019 Stampin’ UP! annual catalog – such a pretty blue and perfect for my sky blending into the sea.
I used an Aqua Painter with the Balmy Blue and So Saffron Ink refills, on the watercolor paper then left it to dry, before adding lots of Wink of Stella to give the impression of the sun sparkling off the sea and sand! I then attached this to the Crumb Cake Card layer with some Tear and Tape double sided tape. Using the Stampin Trimmer I cut this @ 2 3/8 and 3 7/8 ~ giving me 3 pieces, which were attached to the base card and the 4 1/4 x 1 1/2 Balmy Blue piece and the middle attached to the inside of the card.
When the card is opened it has a gap in the middle ~ the two pieces held together with the circles featuring the chair and table cut from the Wood Texture DSP and the Seasonal Layers Framelits.
I had a lot of fun working thru the measurements for this one, here is a peek at the inside to just show how the middle section of the water coloring is attached – I just could not bear to throw this bit away!
Thank you for stopping by – I hope you like today’s card – please let me know in a comment ~ by using that little link just under the title.
