I have a monthly technique class and am always looking for new ways of using paper, stamps and ink.  The Marbled Background Stamp has been in my stash for a few months and I wanted to use it for ‘something’ but not sure what – so I played for a while starting with stamping Memento Black ink and a quarter sheet of Whisper White card.

It was OK but was not floating my boat so I pulled out the Artisan Textures Stamp Set and randomly stamped over the surface with Versamark and sprinkled with Copper Embossing Powder then setting it with the Heat Gun……………. and there it was …………… a pretty cool effect that I have dubbed ‘Fool’s Gold’ as it reminds me of the rock of the same name – a throwback to my university degree where I majored in the Earth Sciences.

Card base: 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 Basic Black Card ~ scored @ 4 1/4

Layer 1: 51/4 x 4  Granite Card – one of the new Neutrals introduced on June 1st.

Layer 2:  4 1/8 x 2 1/8 Crushed Curry Card

Layer 3: 4 x 2 Fools’s Gold Technique

Layer 4: 3 3/8 x 1 3/8 Crushed Curry Card

Layer 5: 3 1/4 x 1 1/4 Fools Gold Technique

Ink Colors:  Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and Versamark

Some 1/4 Copper Trim to complete.

By cutting up the 1/4 sheet I was able to create all the layers on this card and the one following:

Card base: 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 Melon Mambo Card ~ scored @ 4 1/4

Layer 1: 5 1/4 x 4 Basic Black run thru the Big Shot with the new Tufted Embossing Folder

Layer 2:  3 1/4 x 2 1/4 Melon Mambo Card

Layer 3: 3 x 2  Fools’s Gold Technique

Finished off with 3/8 Metallic Edge Whisper White Ribbon and a scattering of the new Metallic Pearls to finish off.  The pearls are another new addition to the wonderful selection of embellishments – you get 121 gold and 121 silver pearls in each pack!
