Today I have gone right back to basics with some Card, Ink and Stamps………….. and a little bling, of course!!! Sometimes I can get so wrapped up in fancy colds or techniques that I can forget the pleasure of just simply using color to create texture, so I cracked out my Blending Brushes, the Layering Leaves Stamps set and a couple of ink pads!

Although both of these papers have now retired the principles for making the cards remain the same. Continue readingYou are probably aware that when a new SU annual catalog is launched we get 5 new ‘in-colors’ that are with us for two years. This years colors are rich, earthy tones and today’s card features two of them.
I showcased this new stamp set and coordinating dies ~ Timeless Arrangement ~ a few days ago, I knew then I would l be using a lots as it has some pretty floral images and a boatload of greetings in lovely fonts – my kinda stamp set!!!
Continue readingNow we are in June my thoughts are turning to cards to celebrate July 4th ~ Independance Day here in the US. I have taken a slightly different approach for today’s card using some slightly muted Red, White and Blue and using the Elegant Border Dies to create the ‘stripes’. I think this would make a great graduation card ~ simply swap out the red and blue for the school colors!

Continue readingI like to introduce new colors to you and to pair them with colors you might already have in your stash. Today our new color is Pecan Pie, part of the refreshed Neutrals family and I have paired it with Petal Pink and a little dash of Old Olive for the leaves.
You all know that I love flowers and am always drawn to new stamp sets that feature them, especially if they have greetings as well! The Cheerful Daisies Stamp Set fits that bill perfectly and it particularly speaks to me as one of our Yorkie’s was called Daisy and we were especially close.

Continue readingI don’t usually make big cards, partly because of the extra postage we have to pay here in the US. So I have always stuck to making them with 1/2 sheet of 11 x 8 1/2 card with the finished card size of 5 1/2 x 4 1/4. Then I received a card from a friend – it was bigger than 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 but still had the regular first class stamp. So I did a little research and found that I could send a max size of 7 x 5 for the same first class stamp – so today’s card is just that size!!
