Bordering Blooms for a Happy Anniversary

We have a number of wedding anniversaries in our family and amongst our friends, over the coming months.  So I  sat quietly and made some cards to send.  This card was inspired by one made by Connie Stewart of Simply Simple Stamping but I changed out the colors and just added a little more bling 🙂

The 8 1/2 x 5 1/4 base is in Pool Party with a 5 1/2 x 1 5/8 strip of Soft suede layered beneath 5 1/4 x 1″ Whisper White card. I punched a decorative edge on the base card with the Scalloped Edge Border punch and gently sponged the edge with Soft Suede ink (I just love the combination of blue and brown….. I am thinking of using just those colors in one of the rooms in out new house:-) )

I used the ‘flowery garland’ from the Bordering Blooms stamp set and Early Expresso ink on the Whisper White card then spent a happy time coloring in the pattern using Stampin Writers from the Subtles family, Pear Pizzazz for the leaves, Pool Party and Pink Piroutte for the flowers and So Saffron for the little ‘berries’. Once this was attached from the card I added a few tiny pearls to the pink flowers.

The ‘Happy Anniversary’ comes from the ‘Memorable Moments’ stamp set, the words are separate so I used the ‘Stampa-ma-jig’ to get the words lined up before cutting out with the Scalloped Oval Punch, then again out with the sponge to ‘soften’ the edges.

I was pretty pleased with the final cards and I hope you enjoyed me sharing them with you.

  1. This is a keeper Cindy! You know how I love clean lines. This card can be made in any sizes as well.

  2. Cindy, I’ve been using some large dies and struggle with my cuttlebug getting them cut. I’m considering taking the leap and buying a Big Shot because I don’t remember having any problems cutting when I use your BS plus I love the magnetic plate. What comes with the BS and then what other parts would I need to buy from SU? How does the SU price compare with Amazon? Thanks, Toni
