Advent Calendar – Countdown to Christmas ~ Day 5

Here we are on Day 5 of the Advent calendar that my friend, Elly, from the UK and I designed during her visit in October using a 24 cup mini muffin pan.  Throughout December I will share one each day with a brief description of each.

You will want to open each post, as there will be a little treat behind each one!  Some days it might be some virtual ‘candy’ or sweeties as we call them in the UK, other times it might be a card, 3D project or a video!

Each of the squares start with a 2 1/4 x 2 1/4 inch base with 4 little magnets stuck to the back with glue dots.  The primary colors are  Real Red, Old Olive, Smoky Slate and Soft Sky. Ink Colors included those above, plus two neutrals of  Tip Top Taupe and Early Expresso.

One of the things I enjoy most about getting ready for Christmas is putting up the Christmas tree ~ today is the day for me to do that!

I have three in my home all of which I love but particularly the one in the family room, which is decorated primarily in reds, greens and golds.  This is the tree I have all my memories on, each of the ornaments has a story behind it which comes back fresh and new as I unwrap each one and put it on the tree.  Some I have bought when on holiday, some are gifts from the grandchildren (decorated handprints mainly) some I made with my Mum (before RA robbed her of the ability to manipulate small things) some my Mum gave me from my childhood    ~~~~ lots and lots of memories.

So today’s square has a pretty ‘ornament’ cut from Silver Foil with the Merry Tags Framelits Dies.  This was layered onto 2 x 2 of This Christmas Specialty DSP and a cheeky little bow using the Candy Cane Lane Bakers Twine.

I imagine this to be a ‘hard candy’ or boiled sweet as we call them in the UK.  I think we needed a little change from chocolate!
