Rose Wonder White Wash

I love the Rose Wonder Stamp Set from Stampin’ Up!  It has a big, bold rose image which just fills the front of a card and then a whole host of greetings which pretty much would suit any occasion….. thanks, wedding wishes, thoughts and prayers, birthday and sympathy.

The big, bold rose lends itself to a really pretty technique known as ‘White Washing’.  This would work on most any image that that has space to ‘color in’

White Wash Technique

Card base: 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 Crumb Cake ~ scored @ 4 1/4

Layer 1:  5 1/4 x 4 Basic Black

Layer 2:  5 x 3 3/4 Crumb  Cake

Ink Colors: Memento Black, Versamark, Old Olive, Pear Pizzazz, Wisteria Wonder and Pink Pirouette.

With White Wash technique you start by heat embossing the image onto the card with White Embossing Powder.

Put a few drops of White Craft ink into a small container and using an Aqua Painter, dilute it to a thin consistency, then apply over the entire embossed image.  Allow this to  dry or use the heat tool for a few moments.

Put a drop of each of the inks onto a plate and again use the aqua painter to dilute it down then paint over the flowers and leaves putting in the shading with the slightly darker colors. Remember to clean the aqua painter brush between colors otherwise it becomes a muddy mess!:-/
