The colors I choose to use in my cards often starts in my ribbon drawer – I love to use it in my projects so it makes sense to start there! For today’s card my eye was drawn to the 3/8 Pool Party Shimmer Ribbon so Pool Party is the main color for my card and the water coloring on the Lovely Lattice stamp set which is my focal point and I got for FREE.

Card Base: 11 x 4 1/4 Thick Whisper White Card ~ scored @ 5 1/2
Layer 1 : 5 1/4 x 4 Pool Party Card
Layer 2: 5 x 3 3/4 Shimmery White Card
Ink Colors: Sahara Sand
I used Shimmery White card to water color as it is a little thicker than regular cardstock and tolerant of having the aqua painter. As an added bonus it leaves you with some lovely, gentle sparkle when finished.
The outline is stamped in Sahara Sand, I then used my Aqua Painter with Pool Party, Powder Pink and Pear Pizzazz Ink refills. I choose to put a tiny drop of ink on a paper plate then use the Aqua Painter to pick up a little ink at a time, always giving each section to dry before applying another color close by to prevent it from ‘bleeding’.
All the card edges were sponged with Sahara Sand and Stampin Sponge to give a little vintage effect before attaching to the Pool Party layer with some Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. After the ribbon was added this was attached to the card with 4 -5 Stampin Dimensionals and some Pearl Basic Jewels scattered as a final flourish.
