Last week I shared my treat for the swap I took part in during the Stampin” Up convention last month. One of the treat boxes I received in return held 3 well-known chocolate squares and the box was so cute I decided to make some up for a dinner I was invited to last weekend.

The cotton paper was introduced in the 2015 ~ 2016 Annual Catalog by Stampin’ Up! – it had a lot of really lovely new things – one of which was this cotton paper. I was not sure what to expect when I ordered it but it is always good to try something new……. right?

When I was at the Stampin’ Up convention in July I signed up to join in with an ‘organized swap’
It was for a 3D treat holder and the requirements were that it should hold a treat and be an original design if possible. As I love to make boxes I knew that would be the base of my ‘treat’ but I also wanted to show a technique – after all I was going to be giving my treat to fellow stampers/papercrafters so I wanted it to have a bit of a WOW factor.
I made this card for my customers who have an August Birthday but I also needed a card for a friend who had recently lost a family member. Looking at the card design I realized I could make it work for both purposes. There is a little bit of stamping but it relies on the embellishments for impact.

This month’s set is ‘Heartfelt Sympathy ‘. This is the first time I have chosen a set that is all sentiments but the font is very decorative in its own way with lots of sweeping curls and tiny leaves. I have used Designer Series Paper, embossing folders and punched pieces to provide the images allowing the words to speak for themselves.
The Washi Label Punch was introduced in the new 2015 – 2016 Stampin’ Up! catalog and I find I use it a lot. When I was making my swaps for the recent Stampin’ Up! convention in Salt Lake City, UT, I was using a very small greeting on my card and the full size of the punch was a little overwhelming – so with a little playing around I got it to produce just the size I needed.
We will spend the day making cards, 3D and Home Decor projects ~ yes…. a whole 7 hours……………. all have a Halloween (see the treat holder above!), Thanksgiving or Christmas theme and PDF recipes will be provided after the event.
