Comfort and Hope ~ Paper Hugs

Welcome to my Corner of the World

Everyone needs a hug! Sometimes it is not possible to give one in person, here is an idea for sending a paper hug!

The Comfort and Hope Stamp set has a greeting that says exactly that, along with some super, creative texture stamps which I love to use. We used to have a stamp set called Gorgeous Grunge which was a ‘go to’ when I had some ‘space’ on a card that I needed to fill. I was sad when Gorgeous Grunge retired, but so happy to see this stamp set in the 2020 -2021 Annual Catalog.

Bravo, you did it! ~ Stampin’ Up!

Last week my sister’s youngest son graduated from a UK university with a Masters degree in Aeronautical Engineering (amongst other things)  A bit of a smart cookie (who must take after his aunt I’m sure!)

While at university he was a member of the Air Cadets which is linked to the Royal Air Force and during the early part of July he took his first solo flight.  So many wonderful things to celebrate and hopefully the card I made and sent reflects the enormous pride I feel in his achievements.

Wetlands Birthday Card

Today is my dear husband’s birthday, he is so very supportive of me and all I want to do and puts up with a lot missed meals, extra dog walking duties and a houseful of happy stampers when he gets home from a long day.  His main hobby is wildlife photography and so I chose to use the Wetlands Stamp Set from Stampin’ Up! for his birthday card, this is  a great set and perfect for the guys in our lives.  Continue reading

Congratulations ~ Bravo Stamp Set

We went to visit the construction site for our new home over the weekend, we are excited with progress, brick and stonework is nearly finished and the inside walls have been painted.  We also met our new neighbours who told us they had their first child on Wednesday and signed and completed all the paperwork and got the keys for their new home the following day!!!! It is the perfect opportunity for a card 🙂 Continue reading

Thank you……….

‘Thank you’ is probably the first phrase we are taught as children – it certainly was in our home and I observed my sister and her eldest daughter do the same when they started their families.  It takes but a few moments to say but it can have so much impact. I decided to share my ‘thank you’ cards I sent to my customers in June. Continue reading

Stampin’ Up’s ~ Gorgeous Grunge & Oh Hello

Gorgeous Grunge…… curious choice of words… I have to admit that I did not really see the stamp set when the new catalog was released in June,  I am more into flowers and doilies than splodges and skid marks!!!  However we were given this set as part of our Convention 2013 goodies and I bought it home and put it in my stamp cupboard.

gorgeous grunge

In late July I was designing some scrap book layouts for my August Scrap camp ~ the theme was ‘fun in the sun’ – I was looking for something that would give me a ‘sand-type’  texture to add dimension to my crumb cake cardstock ‘beach’  I browsed thru my stamp sets and there was ‘Gorgeous Grunge’ sitting there waiting patiently for me…… the little scattered dot pattern stamp gave me a perfect effect.

In August I was working on  my September Scrap Camp designs, this time a travel theme, again looking for texture to add interest to the background of my pages…. there was Gorgeous Grunge again….. using the kinda ‘tyre skid’ effect at the bottom of my pages.  I was really beginning to warm to this stamp set!

I also used the small ‘splodge’ on the Thanksgiving Banner featured in an earlier post.

November, December and January bring a lot of birthdays for the fellas in my family…… so out came the Gorgeous Grunge once again!

………. and again for a couple of ‘thank you’ cards same layout at the guy cards but using more ‘girly’ colors and the pretty flower from the ‘Oh Hello’ stamp set (which I got as part of my materials at Leadership training way back in January

oh hello

So I guess the moral is to never judge a stamp set by it cover ~ this little DVD case was full of little gems! 🙂
