Star of Light Meets Time for Tea!

A dear friend of mine recently became an American Citizen, just in time to celebrate her 18th year of living in this country.  A good reason for a card, of course, but it needed to be special with a little ‘nod’ to both her countries of citizenship – the UK as well as the USA  (we Brits are allowed to be dual citizens by both countries)

Red, White and Blue are obvious choices as both countries flags have those colors, then I chose to use the lovely ‘swish’ from the Star of Light stamp set as it has stars and the ‘swish’ part reminds me of fireworks and celebration.  To honor her British side and her love of tea (very much like my own as I explained earlier this week) a tea cup from the Time For Tea Stamp Set

Silver Embossing Paste meets Dazzling Diamonds

Very often I make a card for a particular occasion then look at it thinking that it would also work for another occasion, and so it is with today’s card.  I wanted a really striking birthday card and used the Silver Embossing Paste on the Night of Navy Card.  As soon as I had finished the birthday version ‘ Christmas’ shouted out to me!  I made a second one and sprinkled some Dazzling Diamonds Glitter over it before allowing it to dry.

Advent Calendar – Countdown to Christmas ~ Day 18

Day 18 finds us in the grip of a polar vortex ~ as I write this it is 16F  (which is -9C) BBBBRRRR!!!!!!  but it brings back very fond memories of our very mild autumn and when my friend, Elly, from the UK was here in October and we designed an advent calendar using a 24 cup mini muffin pan.  So here is number 18 with a little description of how it was made.
