A dear friend of mine recently became an American Citizen, just in time to celebrate her 18th year of living in this country. A good reason for a card, of course, but it needed to be special with a little ‘nod’ to both her countries of citizenship – the UK as well as the USA (we Brits are allowed to be dual citizens by both countries)
Red, White and Blue are obvious choices as both countries flags have those colors, then I chose to use the lovely ‘swish’ from the Star of Light stamp set as it has stars and the ‘swish’ part reminds me of fireworks and celebration. To honor her British side and her love of tea (very much like my own as I explained earlier this week) a tea cup from the Time For Tea Stamp Set
Card base: 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 Real Red Card ~ scored @ 4 1/4
Layer 1: 5 1/4 x 4 Night of Navy Card
Layer 2: 5 x 3 3/4 Whisper White Card
Ink Colors: Real Red, Night of Navy and Versamark
The ‘swish’ stamp was used for the red and blue then the middle one is stamped in Versamark then some Silver Embossing Powder added and set with the Heat Tool. The tea cup was cut using the Spot of Tea Framelits Dies (available in a bundle – so you can save 10%!) then attached with a couple of Stampin Dimensionals.
