We are in the last few days of summer – autumn starts on Friday. Living in North Texas I think that autumn is my favorite season of the year, when I lived in the UK I used to hate the autumn, the days were getting shorter, some days were warm but more often were damp and overcast needing a coat each time you stepped out of the door.
Here in N. Texas it starts to get a cooler but we still get lovely sunny days that don’t require you to bundle up to go outside, working in the garden without getting overheated and sticky after about 5 mins is another pleasure.
In celebration of autumn I have a card in lovely autumnal colors and beautiful leaves.
Card base: 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 Crushed Curry card ~ scored @ 4 1/4
Layer 1: 5 1/4 x 4 Cajun Craze Card
Layer 2: 5 x 3 3/4 Glossy White Card
Ink Color: Basic Black Archival Ink, Crushed Curry and Cajun Craze
The second layer is created using the Polished Stone technique where you take a cotton ball and add a little rubbing alcohol ~ I like to use the 91% one as it evaporates a little quicker. Add a few drops of two reinkers, make sure they are not too close together in shade otherwise you will not get the color variation. Then simply dab the cotton ball over the glossy white card until you have a depth of color that you want.
Leave to dry a few moments then add your stamped decoration. I used the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink with the Vintage Leaves Stamp Set, once again you will need to leave this to dry for a while as the glossy surface does not absorb the ink as quickly as regular card.
To continue with the autumnal theme I added a leaf cut from gold glimmer paper using the Seasonal Layers Thinlets and finished of with a Linen Thread bow attached with a mini glue dot.
