Earlier this week I had my 2018 – 2019 Annual Catalog launch, each person got their own personal copy of the new catalog, we had a scavenger hunt, a drool over some of the new products I was able to pre-order, snacks and some ‘make and takes’
One of the make and takes was this card using a new stamp set, Serene Garden and one of the new card colors, Merry Merlot, plus some Stampin Blends pens – which will be available in the coming weeks.
Card base: 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 Extra Thick Whisper White card ~ cored @ 4 1/4
Layer 1: 3 1/4 x 3 1/4 Merry Merlot Card
Layer 2: 3 x 3 Whisper White Card
Ink Colors: Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad, Crumb Cake, Rich Razzleberry and Old Olive Stampin’ Blends.
To create the spotlight effect you will stamp your image on layer 2, then again on a scrap of whisper white card but focus on the part of the image that has the flowers on it. Once stamped you will cut the section out with a 1 3/4 circle punch, then color with the Stampin’ Blends. I also added a dash of Wink of Stella on the little flowers. It is then just a case of adding a couple of Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back of the circle then lining it up with the image on layer 2.
I have a video from one of my recent on-line classes that shows this technique, using the beautiful Petal Palette stamp set.
I just love this new set – it is perfect for coloring in and it has a coordinating die set called Garden Scene Framelit Dies (available in a bundle for a 10% discount 🙂 see below for more details)
I also think this will fall into my Sweet and Simple Challenge, just one stamp set, some ink and one tool (the punch) and one embellishment ( Wink of Stella)
