Wax Resist Technique – Video

I have a monthly class where we explore different techniques using card and ink with some added stamp sets, ribbons and other embellishments.  We then use the technique to create a card and a couple of months ago we did one using ordinary wax paper.  To be honest, the only reason I have wax paper at all is to use for my card crafting – I think this is the second technique we have done with it and I have a couple more up my sleeve! Mystery Stamping with Lovely Friends

Last Sunday evening my Stampin’ UP! grandma organised another mystery stamping event on our teams Facebook page.  It is the latest in a series she had done over the last few years and they are a lot of fun.

She starts by giving us a list of supplies, this time it was a card base plus a layer, a Whisper White oval, some ribbon and linen thread, then to choose a stamp set with flowers and greetings and two ink pads. Continue reading

Christmas in July Blog Hop

Welcome to the Christmas in July Blog Hop – a collection of ideas from Stampin’ UP! demonstrators all over the globe showcasing  the brand new and fantastic ‘Carols of Christmas’ bundle which has a stamp set with the same name and the ‘Card Front Builder Thinlets Dies. You will have come from Betty Bickford ~ I just hope my card is up to the same standard.

Each of us has been asked to design a card using this bundle and other products from the current 2017 – 2018 annual catalog.

When I saw the bundle for the first time it literally screamed GOLD heat embossing to me so that was my starting point, I chose very traditional colors of Cherry Cobbler and Very Vanilla to compliment the gold.

Thoughts and Prayers ~ Stampin’ UP!

Sympathy cards are the one type of card that we would really not have to make but they are probably the ones that bring the most comfort to the recipient ~ they know someone is thinking of them at a difficult time in their life.

The Thoughts and Prayers stamp set is a one  to have in your stash, not only is it suitable for bereavement it also has some lovely sentiments for get well and thinking of you…. and what can I say about the two images – one the most elegant tree and the other a lovely ‘swooshy’ flowery branch – which I have used on an anniversary card before. Eastern Beauty…… just 2 more……

I did say last week I had a couple more cards made with the Eastern Palace Suite to share – the stamp set, dies, designer paper and embellishments are just too pretty not to use again and again ~ the lovely jewel tones keep drawing me back, so much so I had to buy another pack of the paper and those gold stickers.

You can check out all of the products in this suite on page 19 of the 2017 – 2018 catalog ~ don’t have a copy?  Just leave me a comment and I will get right back to you. Continue reading

Happy Birthday ~ Shadow Effect

Birthday cards are probably the most type of card we make and send, yes well Thank You cards are right up there as well – I do send a lot of those!  ………..

………Back to birthday cards……  I like to make a batch of about half a dozen so that I have a few in my stash in case I need one in a hurry.  In the 2017 – 2018 Stampin’ Up! Annual catalog there is a single die, tucked away on page 213 (and pictures on page 76) which makes a lovely center piece for my card.  I used it as a single layer – which was fine, but felt it needed a little something more so I doubled it up to form a ‘shadow’ effect, and here I have a video to share the technique with you 🙂 Continue reading

Heat embossing ~ Stampin’ Up!

I am sure I have said in past – but it is always worth repeating….. I LOVE heat embossing.  The magic of that powder melting down and creating a fantastic background or focal point on the card – such a WOW factor, and to be honest almost a right of passage for any card-crafter.

I use this technique in a lot of my classes – in fact in my August Christmas/Holiday Card Stamp Camp on August 18th & 19th one of the cards will feature heat embossing.  Check out on the calendar tab above for more details

Hershey’s Nuggets…….. mmmmm!

I love to take candy (sweets) and make them into something a little bit special.  I have been decorating Hershey’s Nuggets for several years now – giving them as thank you’s and selling them at craft fairs in the run up to Christmas.  They are very quick and easy to do, taking just a few supplies……. and you can use them for just about any occasion you can think of.  The ones I am sharing today were for a July 4th dinner we were invited to a couple of weeks ago.
