Baby Shower Elephants and Chevrons!

A dear friend, and a member of my Stampin’ Up! team is about to become a grandmother!  She held a shower for the mother-to-be a couple of weeks ago and I was fortunate to be invited.

The baby’s colors and his nursery are in gray and yellow with chevrons and elephants ~ perfect subject for some punch art! I love to do punch art and  it is a while since I shared any.

Gift Card Holder using Stampin’ Up!’s Mini Treat Bag Thinlit

We were invited to a first birthday party on the weekend before Christmas.  It is very difficult to know what to buy for a one year old, so I wimped out a bought a gift-card ~ I figured his Mum would know exactly what to get and choose something she liked as well 🙂

Rather than simply give the gift-card in the little holder they give you at the store I made a birthday card/holder using the new Mini Treat Bag Thinlit from the new Stampin’ Up! Occasions mini catalog*…………….

Punch Art No 9 ~ Uncle Sam

It has been a week or so since I last posted……  my computer went blank on me, just a white, winking arrow……nothing worked until a friend had a close look at it, fixed  and then gave me a severe lecture on NOT using ‘clean disk’ and ‘defrag’ 😦

But here we are nearly half way thru June already and July is knocking at the door.  That means Independence Day is about 3 weeks away.   Here is a perfect embellishment for a scrapbook page or card. Continue reading

Punch Art No 8 ~ Easter Bunny

Punch Art Penguin

We have had a long and cold winter here in North Texas (compared to recent years) so when deciding the theme for February’s Scrap Camp it seemed an obvious choice to do “SNOW DAY” .  It was easy to find snowflakes from Stampin’ Up’s Festive Flurry Stamp Set  but I needed an embellishment and a penquin would be perfect…. so here he is…… No 6 in my series of punch art characters……… Continue reading

Punch Art – Train

My great-nephew will be celebrating  his third birthday next week.  He lives in England so I don’t get to see him as much as I would like, but his mother sends me lots of photos of him (and his new baby sister)  Continue reading

Punch Art 3 ~ Graduation Owl

The third in my series of punch art embellishments is the graduation owl.

We start with the Owl Punch and some Crumb Cake card stock to make the body then Whisper White and Basic Black to make his eyes.  The large flower in the Boho Blossom punch was used to cut Crumb Cake ‘wings’ which was then cut in half.  Soft Suede ink was sponged onto the body and wings.

The medium flower from the Boho Blossom blossom punch was used to cut the ‘beak’ in Tangarine Tango card stock then trimmed to a single petal which was attached behind the eyes with a glue dot.

The cap was made by using the oval punch to cut Basic Black then cut in half.  Then shaped with 1/2 inch circle punch from the Itty Bitty punch pack.  The top of the cap started as a 1″ square then trimmed to make the diamond shape before attaching to the base with a stampin dimensional. The tassle was made with Cherry Cobbler bakers twine, then a white gel pen to make the little ‘twinkle’ in his eye.

He was then was used as an embellishment on the scrapbook page.

Punch Art 2 ~ Bear

Here is the second in my series of punch art embellishments, this is based on ‘Bertie Bear’  by Pat Carr (an Australian SU designer)

As you can see the Owl punch has come into play again for the body and the little fur tuft on the top of his head.  The arms and feet use the ‘wing’ from the Bird Builder Punch.

All the pieces are cut from Crumb Cake and were sponged in ‘Soft Suede’ ink.  The nose and tuft were cut from Soft Suede card stock.  I used the Chocolate Chip stampin marker to put on his features and cute little toes.

This turned out to be a very versatile embellishment as I used the him for a recent scrap book layout:

…..  as well as a card for my recently arrived great-niece, Isla

Punch Art – Book worm

I love to make my own embellishments for  my scrap book pages.  This often involves pulling out all of my paper punches and scraps of card stock and to footle about until I get something that looks good and is repeatable in my scrap camps.

At least one of my pages contains a punch art embellishment.  To help my ‘scrappers’ create their own little gem I create an exploded version for them to follow.  I thought I would share some of these in a series of posts.

This little guy featured in the ‘school days’ scrap pages in the October scrap camp.  He is made from a series of Stampin’ Up’s circle punches as well as the eyes from the Owl Punch
