Pick a Pattern ~ First Day of School Card

September 10th 1973 was the first day of my first ever job,  44 years ago today I joined the ranks of those working for a living!  I clearly remember that day including what I wore and the first paycheck I received the following week!

Another, more recent, first being celebrated in our family is Grand-daughter #3’s first day at school tomorrow – the last few years have simply flown by – it is hard to believe she is now a ‘school girl’ and not a baby any longer.

There is the perfect piece in the Pick a Pattern Designer Series Paper for a card to recognize this milestone and I could not resist using it to make and send her a card. Continue reading

Delightful Daisy Floating Image Card

One of my Yorkie’s is called Daisy – it is such a lovely light and fresh name, and because she is a Southern Belle she is formally known as ‘Miss Daisy’.  If she had not have been Daisy she would have been Poppy, again because it is a bright and happy name ~ and I just love flowers!

When the Delightful Daisy Suite became available as a pre-order for Stampin’ Up! demonstrators it was at the top of my list particularly the Designer Series Paper which I am featuring today, along with the Oh So Eclectic Stamp Set and a brief appearance by one of my favorite sets ‘ One Big Meaning’ Continue reading

Best Fishes – Jar of Love

My oldest nephew celebrated his 30th birthday on the first of September – I still remember the day he was born and his early years when he had a fascination for snails, his mother dreaded emptying his pockets at the end of the day as he would tuck them in his pockets as he found them on his adventures each day – I recall making him a birthday cake with snails on it – his 3rd birthday I think!

He has a wicked and very dry sense of humor, also the knack of keeping a very straight face and it takes a few moments to dawn on you what he just said!  For the first time in 17 years I was able to spend the day with him this year and this is the card I gave him. Continue reading

Lace Edge Card – video tutorial

Yesterday the new Holiday catalog went live – lots of lovely Christmas, Thanksgiving and Halloween themed goodies to choose from! (Let me know if you would like a copy – I will be happy to send one to you)

Yes – it is only September 2nd and maybe a tad early to do Christmas but one of the new bundles Snowflakes Sentiments caught my eye because of the lovely lacy dies and the little snowflakes that can easily look like flowers.  So I used it to create a birthday card (or two) and a thank you card.  I prepared a video to show a couple of tips and techniques for using the die and the Multipurpose Adhesive Sheet and you will see my trusty Piercing Tool come into action…. a lot! Ribbon of Courage ~ Stampin’ UP!

The Ribbon of Courage stamp set was one I was so thrilled to see in the 2017 – 2018 Annual Catalog, it was inspired by Patty Bennett who is one of Stampin’ UP!’s Million Sales Achiever, and was included on my very first order when the catalog went live on June 1st.

I wanted to make some cards with the set and the coordinating Support Ribbon Framelits and I did google the different Awareness Ribbon colors – there are such a huge range for all different causes, but I decided to go neutral today.

You Light Up My Life – Fireflies in a jar

The Jar of Love Stamp set is one I have in my stash for a number of months – it just did not  get to the top of my pile of  stamps sets until the other day – as I took a close look I realized that it has such a lot of different themes and jars are very much in vogue at the moment – the other draw is it has the coordinating Everyday Jars Framelits – making everything so easy to cut out! Birthday Blossoms ~ with a touch of watercoloring

So everyone has a birthday – apart from thank you cards they are the ones I probably make most of.  I like to keep a stash of cards ready for when they are needed ~ well,  that is my excuse for making cards for no specific reason other than to have some crafting time.

The Birthday Blossom stamp set has such pretty images and I am drawn to the lovely cursive greetings that it has.  I used it as one of my virtual on-line stamp classes last year and I am thrilled to have used it again in the card I am sharing today. Continue reading

Help Keep Families Close ~ Ronald McDonald House Charities, special offer

Helping a sick child fight a serious illness or injury places a huge emotional strain on a family. Add worries about finances and a family can become overwhelmed. Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) help families stay near their hospitalized child at little or no cost, allowing them to focus on helping their child heal, not on where they will stay or get their next meal.

Cutting Tools ~ Stampin UP!

My sweet Mum was a professional dressmaker – she was an apprentice in Bond Street, London – which was a very posh place for clothes back in the late 1940’s and early 50’s, making couture outfits ~  she has always been quick to point out that she made garments from start to finish – not just a ‘sleeve setter’ or ‘button sewer oner’.  She made wedding dresses and other posh frocks for ‘society’, she did not make her own wedding dress as it was considered unlucky, but she did make her best friends’ and Jean then made my Mum’s.
