Detlightfully Detailed Thank You Cards

Tucked away on page 189 of Stampin’ UP!’s annual catalog is the Delightfully Detailed Laser cut Specialty paper – quite a mouthful!  The picture just does not do this paper justice – it is quite spectacular and can be used to make the most beautiful cards with very little effort.

The paper is Whisper White on one side and Very Vanilla on the other – how neat is that? and is very easy to trim with a Stampin’ Trimmer.

Product Spotlight ~ Stampin’ Trimmer

It is a while since I shared one of Stampin” UP!’s fabulous tools – so today I am showing you the Stampin’ Trimmer.  Now they have been out for a few years now and I use mine all the time.  Some of the cards and 3D items I make and share here use 1/8’s and I know you probably groan to have to cut soooo precisely but with this trimmer it is very easy to do as they are clearly marked.

Sweet and Simple ~ Picture Perfect Birthday # 3

Today’s card is another in my Sweet and Simple series where I have set myself a little challenge using a small amount of equipment and supplies – kind of like one of those cookery shows where you are given 3 or 4 ingredients and you have to turn it into a spectacular 4 course meal.  Then you find the basics such as stock, herbs and spices etc are ‘pantry’ items and it turns out that the meal was made with a whole host of ‘hidden’ stuff we did not know about.

Sweet and Simple ~ Lovely Wishes

Today’s card is another in my Sweet and Simple series where I have set myself a little challenge using a small amount of equipment and supplies – kind of like one of those cookery shows where you are given 3 or 4 ingredients and you have to turn it into a spectacular 4 course meal.  Then you find the basics such as stock, herbs, spices and pasta/rice etc are ‘pantry’ items and it turns out that the meal was made with a whole host of ‘hidden’ stuff we did not know about.

So the ‘pantry items’ for my challenge are going to be, adhesive, Stampin Trimmer, Bone folder and Paper-Piercing tool.  I am going to attempt to create  with 1 stamp set and some ink pads, 1 embellishment (other than paper or card)  and one additional tool, probably a punch.  Click here to see the first in the series.

I chose the Lovely Wishes Stamp Set from the Occasions Catalog – it has lots of ‘swirly’ images with leaves and dinky little flowers that remind me of tulips. Continue reading

Sweet and Simple ~ Picture Perfect Birthday # 2

Two weeks ago I became a statistic………… coming down with the flu which I have never had before!  I spent 5 days in bed (never done that before either) another 3 days feeling as weak as a kitten – even had to sit down for a rest after taking a shower!  and now left with an irritating cough, but at least I am able to think straight now.

Occasionally I will write my posts in advance, particularly if I know I am going to be away for a few days but I really much prefer to write them either the day of or day before posting – it is much fresher and I feel more connected with you all that way.  But since I did not know I was going to fall sick, I was not able to ‘prepare’ ~ so I have fallen behind. Cutting Tools ~ Stampin UP!

My sweet Mum was a professional dressmaker – she was an apprentice in Bond Street, London – which was a very posh place for clothes back in the late 1940’s and early 50’s, making couture outfits ~  she has always been quick to point out that she made garments from start to finish – not just a ‘sleeve setter’ or ‘button sewer oner’.  She made wedding dresses and other posh frocks for ‘society’, she did not make her own wedding dress as it was considered unlucky, but she did make her best friends’ and Jean then made my Mum’s.
