Painted Harvest Hedgehogs

I just love hedgehogs – they remind me of my childhood when we would find them in the garden and put out bread soaked in milk!  Well, we all now know that this is NOT good for them at all and a little dog or cat food would have been far more suitable!

Another thing I love at the moment is the Painted Harvest Stamp set – it is so versatile it even makes hedgehogs!

Card base:  8 1/2 x 5 1/2 Extra Thick Very Vanilla Card ~ scored @ 4 1/4

Layer 1: 5 1/4 x 4 Wood Textures DSP

Layer 2:  4 5/8 x 3 3/8 Early Expresso Card

Layer 3:  4 1/2 x 3 1/4  Very Vanilla Card

Ink Colors: Early Expresso,Pear Pizzazz and Soft Suede

I have seen this card by other stamping artists and had to have a go myself.   I started by masking off  layer 3 – leaving about an inch at the bottom then sponged with Pear Pizzazz ink, the  little tufts of grass were hand drawn using the Pear Pizzazz Stampin’ Marker.

Next the two Hedgehog bodies – I masked off the ‘grass’ then stamped half on/half off with full strength Soft Suede ink using the two ‘sunflower’ stamps.  The little face was drawn by hand using a Memories and More Journaling Pen. Lots of leaves at the top of the picture to make them look as though they were peering out of the hedgerow – stinkin’ cute (if I say so myself!)
