Black Ice Technique with Video Tutorial

Time to share a technique ~ Black Ice.  It creates a great focal point to a card with a really unusual finish.  As this is an embossing technique it also gave me a chance to pull out my Heat Gun which has been sadly neglected for a while 🙂

Looking at the color combination I think this would make for a great card for the guys in our lives and the second sample with a little flower and bow would be great for a feminine card.

Card base:  11 x 4 1/4 Smoky Slate Card ~ scored @ 5 1/2

Layer 1:  5 1/4 x 4 Basic Gray Card

Layer 2: 3 1/4 x 3 1/4 Basic Black Card

Layer 3: 3 x 3 Silver Foil Sheet

Ink Colors:  Black Stazon and Basic Gray

Layer 2 is randomly stamped with Basic Gray ink using the Timeless Texture Stamp Set and attached to the base card with 4/5 Stampin Dimensionals.  The ribbon is the 1/2 Black Satin  using a faux knot (click here  to see more about this)

I used Tear and Tape to attach the decorated Silver Foil to the Basic Black layer as it just gives a little more strength – you will see what I mean when you watch the video below.  Then 4/5 Stampin Dimensionals to attach this to the card.

The greeting is from the Eastern Beauty Stamp Set cut with the 1 1/8 scalloped circle punch then layered onto some Basic Gray cut with the 1 3/8 scalloped circle punch.
