Welcome back to my corner of the world
I was looking for a little vintage in today’s card and the sponging technique is one of the quickest and easiest ways to create this effect.
My stamp set is the Free as a Bird set, using one of the little birds, that lovely set of leaves (I am a bit of a softy for leaves!) and one of the 6 greetings in the set. In fact this is a great set all around, with leaves, flowers, birds and greetings it gives you a fine choice to create cards for a variety of occasions.
Card base: 11 x 4 1/4 Rococo Rose Card ~ scored @ 5 1/2
Layer 1: 5 1/2 x 2 1/8 Sahara Sand Card
Layer 2: 1/8 x 2 Very Vanilla Card
Scraps of Very Vanilla and Sahara Sand Card
Ink Colors: Early Expresso and Sahara Sand
As I said sponging is a great ‘ vintaging’ effect, along with using Very Vanilla and Sahara Sand card and ink. Check out my video on the Art of Sponging.
The bird is stamped onto a 2″ circle of Very Vanilla and layered onto 2 1/4 circle of Sahara Sand. Although it does not really show very well the bird is colored in with Wink of Stella, liquid glitter. A strip of the Rococo Rose Scalloped Ribbon is attached with 3 Mini Glue Dots and pulls everything together.
