Continue readingStampin’ UP! has so many beautiful decorative papers available to us papercrafters. The Peaceful Place Specialty Designer Paper has some really stunning images that just cry out to be the center piece of your Christmas Cards.
As I explain in the video, there is one design in the pack that has the same image 4 times on one sheet of 12 x 12, creating a sheet 6 x 6 which I was not sure what to do with. I decided to use it to create 2 cards using a technique I call a Layered Panel – this post explains how I work out the cutting and sizes of layers to create 2 different layouts.

Today’s card uses the Pretty Pumpkin Stamp Set pairing Bermuda Bay with Soft Seafoam ~ some non-traditional colors which I think work very well together if you are looking to create something a little unusual.
Continue readingThis is the second in the series of seasonal samplers I was asked to design for a class. Home decor is a particular favorite of mine, I just love to pull together the different elements, experimenting with different textures and colors until I trip over the ‘right’ combination.
I resisted the temptation to use the ‘traditional’ autumn/fall colors of cajun craze and pumpkin pie, although I did not use any of the papers, the color combination was inspired by the Blackberry Beauty Designer Series Paper so you will see Blackberry Bliss, Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive and the different shade of gold in the Brushed Metallic Card.
Continue readingA change of theme for today – with Thanksgiving and Christmas on the horizon we are going to need some thank you cards. I chose to feature the Seashells 3D embossing folder, just adding a simple greeting so the details of this embossing folder do not get lost. I am thinking this would make a really good masculine thank you card…….. change out the greeting and it would be a perfect masculine birthday card as well!!
Continue readingThe leaves on the tree outside my study window are turning color and starting to fall very fast now – autumn is definitely upon us. I was not a fan of autumn when I used to live in the UK, now I live in North Texas, which has hot and dry summers, I find autumn to be a welcome change with the cooler days and better chances of rain!
The Beauty of the Earth Designer Series paper pack has some perfect autumnal color combinations and the design I have used on today’s card are exactly the colors of the tree outside my study! I chose to use a quick and simple Z-Fold card base along with the A Wish for Everything Stamp Set.

Continue readingI spend a lot of time looking thru the Stampin’ UP! Annual Catalog, and I look – I really do look and then suddenly something catches my eye I had not seen before……. ????? One of those ‘somethings’ is the Picture This Dies, tucked away on page 164 – thee are two dies in the set, one will cut circles and another that cuts rectangles to create interesting effects for your cards. Each of the circles and rectangles has a ‘stitched’ edge which gives it a beautiful finish.
Once the circles are cut it is really easy to attach a piece of decorative paper to the back and here is the result………….

The Frightfully Cute Stamp Set has lots of classic Halloween images, just perfect for making some quick cards and I have chosen to use Pumpkin Pie and Old Olive with a some black for today’s card.
