Ornate Borders ~ Color Challenge

Today’s card was inspired by a color challenge, I am always looking for ways of using all the lovely colors in Stampin’ UP!’s huge range and the 3 we had to work with for this project were an interesting combination.

I used the Ornate Thanks Stamp Set for my greeting but the main feature of my card uses the Ornate Borders Dies, which creates a stunning feature.  This is the Ornate Thanks Bundle which is an early release from the 2020 – 2021 Annual catalog coming in early June.  I also used a couple of products that will be retiring at the end of May, the Happiness Blooms Enamel Dots and the Daffodil Delight Ruched Ribbon.

Path of Petals ~ Sympathy

Today’s card uses some products that will be retiring in the coming weeks 😦   The  Path of Petals Stamp Set has some very pretty ‘wispy’ sort of flowers and leaves as well as some really useful greetings – and you know I love a stamp set with images and greetings!

I chose to use the sharing in your sorrow greeting for this one, sadly it is necessary to make cards for these occasions, but any of the greetings in this set would work in the space on  this card.

Timeless Tropical Virtual Vacation

So we are all still practicing social distancing and if you are like me, hunkering down in the house and garden.  I am sure we are all looking forward to our  lives opening up at some time but in the meantime I have a virtual vacation to share today from the Stampin’ UP! Beautiful You Retiform Technique Video Tutorial

I have a great technique video to share today – the Retiform Technique.  I had no idea what it meant,  added to which  my spell checker doesn’t even recognise it!  So  I checked out the definition of retiform ~ ‘having the form of or resembling a net’ ….. and that is exactly what this technique creates!

I chose to use the Beautiful You Stamp Set because it has nice big images which meant I could show you on a video quickly – but if you make each of the sections smaller you can use smaller images to build up an even more intricate pattern.

Ornate Style with some relaxing Stampin’ Blends Coloring

As I write this post it is Good Friday – the weather is absolutely beautiful (although a tiny tad chilly) this morning and as I look out,  my garden has patches of color from the early flowering plants.  It makes me think that despite all of the sad and anxious times we are living thru at the moment – nature is carrying on in her own sweet way bringing  fresh growth and color.

My card today carries on this theme – I have chosen to use the big flower stamp from the Ornate Style Stamp Set and some relaxing coloring with Stampin’ Blends.

Twisted Fun Fold Card ~ Video Tutorial

I do like to make fun fold cards – it stretches my imagination and allows me to make use of all the lovely Stampin’ UP! goodies in my stash.  I have used the Very Versailles stamp set along with the Perennial Essence Designer Series Paper.

Fantastic Stampin’ UP! Joining offer

Welcome back to my corner of the world

I have been a crafter all my life, my Dad taught me to knit, my grandmother taught me to crotchet, my Mum taught me embroidery and I took myself off to classes to learn to make bobbin lace.  All of these are wonderful outlets for my creativity but all of them take time to come up with a completed project…………  SO that is when I added card crafting to my life – I can create and finish a project in as little as 10 minutes or maybe as long as 30 or 40 mins depending on the complexity especially if it is a scrapbook page.

Gosh, the last day of the year and the decade! Cannot believe that tomorrow we will be in the Twenties ~ will they be roaring like the last century’s were? Today’s card is perfect for a New Years celebration but it would also be great for an anniversary, graduation, engagement, wedding … lots of possibilites!

So to all my readers, customers, friends and family, near and far. I wish you all a very happy, peaceful and prosperous New Year. Let’s ring in the new decade with hope and an open heart. Botanical Bliss Birthday

Welcome back to my corner of the world

Today’s card showcases all three of the purples in the Stampin’ UP! family of colors, Gorgeous Grape, Highland Heather and Purple Posy – it also gave me the chance to show off the 3/8 Tricolor Ribbon which also has the same three colors.

I chose to use a simple Z fold for my base and the Highland Heather ink for all my stamping which was done with the Botanical Bliss Stamp set.
