Tucked away on page 189 of Stampin’ UP!’s annual catalog is the Delightfully Detailed Laser cut Specialty paper – quite a mouthful! The picture just does not do this paper justice – it is quite spectacular and can be used to make the most beautiful cards with very little effort.
The paper is Whisper White on one side and Very Vanilla on the other – how neat is that? and is very easy to trim with a Stampin’ Trimmer.
Earlier this week I shared a couple of cards with the two-step stampin’ technique using the ‘Bunch of Blossoms’ stamp set. I have a couple of cards today that uses the same stamp set using ‘filler’ stamps to give a more subtle ‘watercolor’ effect, As the stamp set is a photopolymer it is very easy to line up each of the layers – in fact you could even do three layers! I made a few thank you cards for my ladies last month. The focal point was the Painted Bloom DSP from Stampin’ Up! (which is about to retire) In fact this little card is a homage to a number of products that are on Stampin’ Up’s retirement list ~ I shall miss them all……………………….
Today I have a card that uses a background stamp as a focal point. Something Lacy is in the Occasions mini catalog (and about to retire on June 2nd) which I heat embossed with Blushing Bride Embossing Powder.
May 12th is my sister, Susie’s, birthday ~ she is 7 years younger than me and lives in the UK, so I don’t get to see too much of her. While I was always the one who followed the rules (some might say something of a fuddy duddy) she was the one who pushed the envelope and got away with it (mostly!) She is now the proud mother of 4 children and Nanna to 2 grandbabies – it amazes me that my baby sister is a grandmother!!!
It is some time since I last used the Flower Shop Stamp Set ~ I was asked to make some cards and was browsing my stamp shelf for some inspiration and there is was, just perfect for the kind of card I wanted to make.
Those of you who know me or follow my blog, know that I work for H & R Block. We are busy people from Jan 1st thru April 15th and we rely a lot on the fantastic ladies who run our front desk, answering phones, greeting clients, taking payment, confirming appointments etc (often times one or more of these at the same time!)
I take a little time before ‘tax day’ to make a little thank you gift for them, I know they make my life a lot easier for all they do for me.
One of the lovely things about having card making classes is when you receive a hand-made thank you card in return. I thought I would share a couple I got in the mail in the last few weeks.

I have three parts to my working life, Tax Advisor during tax season, Stampin’ Up! demonstrator and Origami Owl designer. I have, on more than one occasion, expressed my feelings on the importance of saying thank you! I recently did some jewellery bars and 2 parts of my working life were able to come together when it came to thanking my hostesses!
