I have seen some of these telescope cards on the internet which had all been made using some of the BIGZ dies that have long since retired from the Stampin’ UP! catalogs. Now we have the Layering Circle Framelits which have both scalloped and plain circles and makes it so very easy to create this special fold of card.
The layers twist back on themselves so the card will easily fit into a regular envelope for mailing, then will extend to reveal the lovely design and message within.
As this is not a traditional card I can’t give you the card dimensions so I will try to describe which of the circles I used.
First I laid out all the scalloped circles in decreasing size order, the largest scalloped circle (approx 3″) in the set was used for the bottom piece, then the next but one largest for the middle piece (approx 2 1/2″) then the next but one for the top piece (approx 2″) – so basically I chose every other scalloped circle. I then laid out the plain circles and matched up with the scallops to give me the layers I wanted.
Each of the scalloped circles were cut from Calypso Coral card and to give more texture I cut layering circles from the Petal Garden DSP Stack for the middle and bottom pieces, then Whisper White card for the top layers.
The stamp set I chose was Beautiful Bouquet – it has such dainty images that suited this dainty card, it has a coordinating set of dies which I used to cut the flowers and leaves on the top piece of the card. Also at the top is a little loop of Calypso Coral 1/4 Ombre Ribbon ~ to be truthful that was the starting point for this card – I wanted to use that ribbon so pulled out the card and ink then introduced the Old Olive for my greenery.
All 3 layers were assembled then attached together with mini brads ~ this allows each layer to twist back on the one below, I recommend you use a piercing tool and mat for this. I have put links to all the products below.
