Birthday Blossoms ~ with a touch of watercoloring

So everyone has a birthday – apart from thank you cards they are the ones I probably make most of.  I like to keep a stash of cards ready for when they are needed ~ well,  that is my excuse for making cards for no specific reason other than to have some crafting time.

The Birthday Blossom stamp set has such pretty images and I am drawn to the lovely cursive greetings that it has.  I used it as one of my virtual on-line stamp classes last year and I am thrilled to have used it again in the card I am sharing today.

Card base:  8 1/2 x 5 1/2 Basic Black ~ scored @ 4 1/4

Layer 1: 5 1/4 x 4 Berry Burst Card

Layer 2: 5 x 3 3/4 ~ this is a Striped Treat Bag trimmed down, isn’t that just the cutest idea (not mine though – need to thank Ronda Wade for that one)

Ink Colors Basic Black Archival Ink,  Berry Burst Daffodil ink refill.

I used Multipurpose Liquid glue to stick the trimmed bag to the Berry Burst layer, added a length of Berry Burst ribbon then Stampin’ Dimensionals to attach this to the card base.

The flowers were stamped in the Archival Ink onto Whisper White Card, I placed a small drop of Berry Burst ink onto a paper plate and using my Aqua Painter colored in each petal, I used a light color wash to start with then went back and added a little extra ink to give the petals a little more depth, a dab of Daffodil Delight for the centers and it was done.  If you don’t have ink refills use your ink pad to lift a little ink onto your aqua painter.

As I used Whisper White card I was careful not to ‘scrub’ at the paper with the brush tip –  be gentle – the color may look a little ‘splotchy’ at first but it will even out as it dries.

Each flower was cut using the Pansy Punch and attached to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I tied a bow with the 1/2 Berry Burst Finely Woven ribbon and used a glue dot to attach to the card.
