Rooted in Nature – Sweet and Simple Guy Birthday Card

I shall say again, as I have many times in the past – making cards for the fellas in my life is always a challenge – and so it was for my husband’s birthday earlier this month!

My current favorite stamp set for fellas is Rooted in Nature, it has the perfect images without being too ‘fruu – fruu’ and sappy 🙂  Coupled with the Wood Textured DSP stack and the Leaves Trinkets it brings the woody theme together.

Black Ice Technique with Video Tutorial

Time to share a technique ~ Black Ice.  It creates a great focal point to a card with a really unusual finish.  As this is an embossing technique it also gave me a chance to pull out my Heat Gun which has been sadly neglected for a while 🙂

Looking at the color combination I think this would make for a great card for the guys in our lives and the second sample with a little flower and bow would be great for a feminine card.

Fairy Celebration and Stampin’ Blends ~ Birthday Card

This week has been a big one for my Great-Niece, she turned 5 on Tuesday and started ‘Big’ school on the same day.  She is a cute little character and according to her mother, fearless.  I am not quite sure a fairy is a good choice for her birthday card but I do have a photo of her in a little pink dress with a tulle skirt – so I figure she does have a ‘girly’ side to her.

The Fairy Celebration Stamp Set is perfect for coloring and a perfect chance for me to get out my Stampin’ Blends and get my coloring on!

Rooted in Nature Birthday for a Guy

Last week was my eldest nephew’s birthday, he is now in his early 30’s and lives in the UK –  I find it hard to make cards for the fella’s in my life but the Rooted in Nature stamp set gives me a great choice of ‘suitable for a guy’ images and words without being ‘too sappy’!

I used a masking technique to create the card along with my Sponge Brayer to apply the ink ‘ombre’ style.
