Abstract Beauty Mini OSW, Any Occasion Cards

Welcome to my Corner of the World

Wish a peaceful Easter and Passover to my wonderful followers.

Last week I shared a ‘do it yourself’ one sheet wonder (check it out here) , today I have taken one of the 6 x 4 pieces of Abstract Beauty Specialty Paper ~ cut it into sections to create 2 very pretty ‘any occasion’ cards.

  • Base Card: 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 Basic Black Card ~ scored @ 4 1/4
  • Layer 1: 5 1/4 x 4 Basic White Card ~ run thru the Cut and Emboss Machine with the Painted Texture 3D Embossing Folder
  • Layer 2:
  • Ink Color: Tuxedo Black Memento Ink

I started by selecting one sheet of the papers, there are plenty to choose from in the pack, I check out the reverse of the paper as well to make sure it will fit in with the design. The I pull a some of the colors out of the paper for my card base and layers, in this case Basic Black and Blushing Bride.

I did not plan the cuts in my decorative paper, using my Paper Trimmer I basically cut each piece in half ~ my first cut was at 3″ on the 6″ side giving a 4 x 3 panel. With the remain piece I cut at 2″ along the 4″ side giving a 3 x 2 panel then with my final piece I cut that in half giving me 2 panels of 2 x 1 1/2.

Once I had my pieces of decorative paper I cut my backing layers about 1/4 larger for the 4 x 3 panel then about 1/8 larger than the remaining smaller panels.

Attaching them to my card bases with Stampin Dimensionals, then adding a bow made with 3/8 Gold Shimmer Ribbon and attached with a Mini Glue Dot. My greeting is from the Biggest Wish Stamp Set – stamped onto a scrap of Blushing Bride card then trimming to give a little border. This was definitely a ‘free flowing’ and very satisfying way of creating a couple of useful cards for my stash!
