Stylized Happy Birthday

I had to take a step back from my blog over the few weeks, partly due to the preparations for my Stampin’ Getaway and also for a number of craft fairs I signed up to do. I know my readers have still been visiting me here and I thank you for your patience!

One person who shows enormous patience and support is my dear husband, he has been coming home to boxes stacked up, paper cutter taking up the dining room table, taking photos of everything for me, bits of paper and card on every surface in the house (amongst other things) and has never said a negative word. Autumn Polished Stone

We are in the last few days of summer – autumn starts on Friday. Living in North Texas I think that autumn is my favorite season of the year, when I lived in the UK I used to hate the autumn, the days were getting shorter, some days were warm but more often were damp and overcast needing a coat each time you stepped out of the door.

Here in N. Texas it starts to get a cooler but we still get lovely sunny days that don’t require you to bundle up to go outside, working in the garden without getting overheated and sticky after about 5 mins is another pleasure.

Petal Garden Pretties and Beautiful Bouquet

I have been digging into the Petal Garden DSP Stack a lot recently – I just love all the different patterns and the beautiful combination of Pool Party and Calypso Coral – who would have thought these would go so well together.

The Beautiful Bouquet Stamp set is also another favorite – it has 37 pieces which includes the pieces to build a beautiful Bouquet or a single flower and 15 of the pieces are sentiments ranging from Happy Birthday , Congratulations, Happy Wedding Day ~ all in a lovely cursive script.

I could not decide which card to choose so here are two showcasing the DSP, stamp set and 1/8 sheer ribbon.

Best Fishes – Jar of Love

My oldest nephew celebrated his 30th birthday on the first of September – I still remember the day he was born and his early years when he had a fascination for snails, his mother dreaded emptying his pockets at the end of the day as he would tuck them in his pockets as he found them on his adventures each day – I recall making him a birthday cake with snails on it – his 3rd birthday I think!

He has a wicked and very dry sense of humor, also the knack of keeping a very straight face and it takes a few moments to dawn on you what he just said! For the first time in 17 years I was able to spend the day with him this year and this is the card I gave him. Continue reading →

Yesterday the new Holiday catalog went live – lots of lovely Christmas, Thanksgiving and Halloween themed goodies to choose from! (Let me know if you would like a copy – I will be happy to send one to you)

Yes – it is only September 2nd and maybe a tad early to do Christmas but one of the new bundles Snowflakes Sentiments caught my eye because of the lovely lacy dies and the little snowflakes that can easily look like flowers. So I used it to create a birthday card (or two) and a thank you card. I prepared a video to show a couple of tips and techniques for using the die and the Multipurpose Adhesive Sheet and you will see my trusty Piercing Tool come into action…. a lot! Continue reading →

So everyone has a birthday – apart from thank you cards they are the ones I probably make most of. I like to keep a stash of cards ready for when they are needed ~ well, that is my excuse for making cards for no specific reason other than to have some crafting time.

The Birthday Blossom stamp set has such pretty images and I am drawn to the lovely cursive greetings that it has. I used it as one of my virtual on-line stamp classes last year and I am thrilled to have used it again in the card I am sharing today. Continue reading →

Today I am sharing a card inspired by the Creating Pretty Cards sketch from Craft Project Central. I am always looking for ideas for my card projects and have found Craft Project Central to be a very good source of inspiration.

So the story behind today’s card is very simple – I needed a birthday card for a dear friend and a thank you card for another. Mystery Stamping with Lovely Friends

Last Sunday evening my Stampin’ UP! grandma organised another mystery stamping event on our teams Facebook page. It is the latest in a series she had done over the last few years and they are a lot of fun.

She starts by giving us a list of supplies, this time it was a card base plus a layer, a Whisper White oval, some ribbon and linen thread, then to choose a stamp set with flowers and greetings and two ink pads. Continue reading →
