Birthday Blossoms ~ with a touch of watercoloring

So everyone has a birthday – apart from thank you cards they are the ones I probably make most of.  I like to keep a stash of cards ready for when they are needed ~ well,  that is my excuse for making cards for no specific reason other than to have some crafting time.

The Birthday Blossom stamp set has such pretty images and I am drawn to the lovely cursive greetings that it has.  I used it as one of my virtual on-line stamp classes last year and I am thrilled to have used it again in the card I am sharing today. Continue reading

Help Keep Families Close ~ Ronald McDonald House Charities, special offer

Helping a sick child fight a serious illness or injury places a huge emotional strain on a family. Add worries about finances and a family can become overwhelmed. Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) help families stay near their hospitalized child at little or no cost, allowing them to focus on helping their child heal, not on where they will stay or get their next meal.

Cutting Tools ~ Stampin UP!

My sweet Mum was a professional dressmaker – she was an apprentice in Bond Street, London – which was a very posh place for clothes back in the late 1940’s and early 50’s, making couture outfits ~  she has always been quick to point out that she made garments from start to finish – not just a ‘sleeve setter’ or ‘button sewer oner’.  She made wedding dresses and other posh frocks for ‘society’, she did not make her own wedding dress as it was considered unlucky, but she did make her best friends’ and Jean then made my Mum’s.

Beautiful Bouquet Thank you card

Today I am sharing a card inspired by the Creating Pretty Cards sketch from Craft Project Central.  I am always looking for ideas for my card projects and have found Craft Project Central to be a very good source of inspiration.

So the story behind today’s card is very simple – I needed a birthday card for a dear friend and a thank you card for another.  One friend just loves black and white, so there was a good starting point, I had also just received the new leaf punch from Stampin’ UP!’s Holiday Catalog and was looking for ANY excuse to use it ! Background Bits Card ~ Technique and Tips

I have wonderful customers who shop for their Stampin’ UP! goodies with me – I am deeply grateful for their support and honored they choose me as their demonstrator.

I like to send each of them a thank you to show my appreciation – sometimes I choose to share them on my blog.

This card is based on a design by Jenny Peterson – I just added my own little creative twist 🙂 and as I was making it I realised it had a number of different techniques or features that would benefit from explaining a little, so I switched on my camera.

Memory Keeping or Scrapbooking ~ Stampin’ UP!

Traditional scrap-booking is something I have loved to do over the last 8 – 9 years, more or less since we became grandparents really.  Building up the 12 x 12 pages, adding photos and other memory pieces, but it can take a bit of time to build a page or two.

Memory keeping allows you to build up your album a lot quicker – I have been working thru doing ‘something’ with our wedding photos for several years, with Memories and More I was able to build up about 6 double page 12 x 12 spreads in about 3 hours!

Is it scrapbooking or memory keeping?  ~ does it really matter? – lets get those pictures off our phones and into something more permanent and fun to look at! Continue reading

Beautiful Bouquet ~ Thanks a Bunch

The inspiration for this card came from Pinterest – and shame on me I did not make a note of the creative soul who made it…………… nor could I find it again!

I am very cautious with Pinterest – yes – it is full of such beautiful ideas and a huge source of inspiration but you can get lost in it and before you know what happened several hours have passed and not a lot to show for it! (just don’t ask me how I know!)  So I ration myself and on one of the occasions I did dip in I found this idea – and I just love it. Continue reading

Beautiful Bouquet meets Petal Garden Card ~ Stampin’ UP!

Petal Garden Designer Series Paper Stack  is my particular favorite at the moment.  It has colors mixed together, that on the face of it, you would not normally put together ~ Rich Razzleberry, Calypso Coral, Sweet Sugarplum, Pool Party and Old Olive – all of them beautiful colors on their own but when combined in this paper, it is just stunning.

I am currently hosting a DSP share and one of my ladies looked at the papers in this stack and asked what she could do with the ones that just had  pattern in the corner, so I did a little research and came up with an idea for her. Continue reading
